Philosophy

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County, as an expression of social concerns, offers a pre-school and extended day program which provides a loving, stimulating and healthy environment for children.

Another goal of the center is to promote awareness and understanding through the accommodation of special needs children.

The staff and volunteers of the center attempt to convey respect for the development of each individual child through every aspect of programming.  They do this by encouraging and rewarding individual achievement and by assisting exchanges of warmth and concern between children.   The staff is aware that development of individual creative talent goes hand in hand with respect and consideration for the rights of others.

"With all beings and all things, we shall be as relatives."

Children Learn What They Live
If a child lives with criticism,
He learns to condemn.
If a Child Lives with hostility
He learns to fight
If a child lives with ridicule,
He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
He learns to feel guilty
If a child lives with tolerance,
He learns confidence.
If a Child lives with praise,
He learns to appreciate.
If a Child lives with fairness,
He learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
He learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
He learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world.
